It’s been a while since I contributed to this blog. Looking back, it was early 2020 when I last published something and that was a recycled blog post from an earlier time. So I’m going to change that now and start posting about my SaaS journey with YourPCM …
YourPCM is a classic SaaS business and I have a lot of work to do in 2023!
So firstly, what is a SaaS? It stands for 'Software as a Service' and is a cloud-based web platform that offers a range of different functionality for a monthly subscription. There are many out there, of all shapes, sizes and cost levels.
"Mine is called YourPCM!"
I call it a 'growth engine' because it lets you organise everyone you know, discover new businesses you don't, and reach out to them all with custom email, SMS and our unique HTML mailing list system.
It all started at the beginning of 2020. I was coding a new module for my digital marketing platform that I use to blog for my other clients. It was going to be a simple contact manager, available to my blogging clients only. However, my best friend Kirsty Parris dropped by for a coffee one afternoon, saw what I was doing and said, "I want that!"
I replied, "You can't have it, you're not a blogging client". She didn't accept that and went on to offer to pay me for just the contact manager and it all kicked off from there. Rather than telling the whole story, you can go and read this blog post to learn more.
Needless to say that 2020 was my core development year, 2021 was a year of refinement and getting feedback from early adopters, 2022 was all about adding killer features, and now here in 2023 it's all about growth.
"So, this blog is now about my thoughts on building YourPCM!"
If I do any coding, it'll explain why and how, and when I get wins with my business development I'll share that too. Right now, I've just released a whole raft of upgrades to my subscribers that I coded during Christmas 2022. With my entire family being in Australia, I had plenty of time during the festive break to work my way through our feature request list as well as code some new ideas.
And now we're at the end of our first week back in 2023 and all is going well. I've worked out my marketing plan for the year, I've set my targets for the number of new subscribers and I've been formulating my plan for 2024 where I spin off YourPCM into its own limited company and look for startup funding from investors.
It's all go, go, go in Steffi's World. YourPCM is a classic SaaS business which is one that's "Low cost, and high subscriber". I've got a lot of work to do this year to hit my subscriber targets, so I'd better get on with it.
I'll let you know how it's going.
Love, light and logic ...
STEFFI LEWIS
